McKay Brothers Expands Wireless Routes to Major US Cloud Hubs
McKay Brothers is launching new wireless transport links connecting Illinois and New Jersey trading centers to Columbus and Ashburn cloud hubs.
McKay Brothers, an Oakland, California-based provider of low-latency data transport for financial markets, announced Tuesday the launch of new wireless connectivity routes linking key U.S. futures and financial trading centers in Illinois and New Jersey to the major cloud infrastructure hubs of Columbus, Ohio, and Ashburn, Virginia.
The expansion also extends Quincy Data market data feeds to those cloud locations, broadening access to real-time financial data for firms operating out of or connecting through those technology corridors. Ashburn and Columbus rank among the most significant cloud and data center concentrations in the United States, making the routes strategically important for firms seeking faster access to both exchange data and cloud-based trading infrastructure.

McKay Brothers has built its business around microwave and millimeter-wave wireless transport, which can transmit market data faster over certain distances than conventional fiber-optic cables due to the closer-to-speed-of-light propagation of radio signals through air. The new routes extend that speed advantage to connections between established futures trading hubs and rapidly growing cloud computing centers.
The move reflects a broader industry trend of financial technology firms pushing latency-sensitive services deeper into cloud environments, as algorithmic trading operations increasingly rely on hybrid architectures that blend co-location at exchanges with cloud-based compute resources. Extending low-latency wireless feeds to Ashburn and Columbus positions McKay Brothers to serve clients at the intersection of traditional exchange connectivity and modern cloud infrastructure.
